Physiotherapy is a non-surgical way of managing pain, injury, illness or disability, taking into consideration all aspects of an individual and their lives.

At Agilis Physio, we use a variety of treatment techniques along with advice and education, to help relieve pain and restore normal movement, strength and flexibility.

Treatment techniques that your physiotherapist may use include:

Joint mobilization and/or manipulation.

This may be used to help regain movement within a specific joint (and aid joint nutrition), allow a reduction in surrounding muscle tension, as well as help with pain relief. 

 

Soft tissue massage, tissue mobilization and myofascial release.

These treatment techniques are aimed at soft tissue, to help with its flexibility and blood flow, as well as mobilizing scar tissue. It may also help with pain reduction.

 

Taping

May be used in an acute stage to help control swelling and limit movement or at a later stage in the healing process, during the rehabilitation phase to assist appropriate muscle activation and help with joint position sense.

 

Acupuncture and dry needling

These techniques are aimed at pain relief and reduce muscle over activity.

 

Exercise

Including general movement, strengthening and stretching, in order to correct faulty movement patterns, improve control of movement as well as  strength and flexibility.
